When Duncan was in the Montauk chair he thought about a monster, and a beast…who they named “Junior”…was brought up through Duncan’s subconscious mind.  

This “beast” came running through a tear in the time-space continuum. 

Allegedly he caused massive panic and destruction inside the facility.
