MOST FAMOUS EXECUTIONERS

Franz Schmidt was a true virtuoso of his work. This executioner killed
with a rope, a sword, the broken wheel, fire and drowning in water.
Throughout his career, Franz kept a diary, in it there were memories of
361 executions and 345 punishments throughout the 44 years of his
career. He was renowned in history as Master Franz.

Richard Brandon inherited the profession of an executioner. In honor of
his father Gregory, people called the gallows - "Gregory trees”.
Richard was most likely the man who cut off the head of England’s King
Charles I in 1649.
3. John Ketch became famous
for his clumsiness, which bordered on cruelty. In 1685, the rebel Duke
of Monmouth paid Ketch the executioner 6 guineas, so that he executed
him quickly and efficiently. However, John did not deliver - even after
three blows he could not separate Duke’s head and the rebel died in
agony.
4. Giovanni Bugatti worked as an
executioner from 1796 to 1865, receiving the nickname "Master of
Justice". He killed people with an ax, a wooden hammer or at the a
gallows. When the guillotine came into use, he mastered the device. In
his spare time Giovanni and his wife sold painted umbrellas and other
souvenirs to tourists.
5. Clément Henri Sanson
belongs to the dynasty of the Parisian executioners who executed kings.
He received his post in 1840, but his career lasted only 7 years.
Clément Henri has was in so much debt that he pawned his main instrument
- the guillotine and could not reclaim it.
